GOOD FRIDAY WITNESS & RESURRECTION HOPE

Thank you to all those who participated in a very moving walk of witness on Good Friday, especially to Deborah Norman for her beautiful singing, Rev Antony Oakley for a powerfully presented reading of the crucifixion narrative and to Fr Ephraim Nwachukwu for his inspiring prayers. On Easter Day it was great to provide a public witness to the resurrection of our lord Jesus by using the cross which so many people decorated with flowers. Even as we set the cross up and took it down again in the afternoon several passed by and paused to think, talk and pray.

One conversation with a passer-by went something like this:-
“So what happened on Easter Day?”
 “Jesus rose from the dead.”

“I never knew that…so what’s with all the chocolate and bunnies then?” …and then they were gone before I could think of how to answer!

PLANS FOR HOPE NG9 IN 2009

After a year of relentless activity in 2008 it is really encouraging to see Christians uniting together more and more to make a difference in the local community. Some projects started last year are continuing and developing, new projects are still emerging and long-standing projects are being reinvigorated by fresh support from several churches. This newsletter details some of the events coming up as well as open meetings so that anyone can come and share ideas. Our main focus this year is on things that we are already committed to, so meetings will mainly be about shaping those events and projects. However, everyone is welcome to come and share their ideas and dreams about anything that can help us meet the needs of the community and show God’s love to all.
